things to do
Get To The Point fills Pleasant Point’s main street with competitions, displays and free family entertainment. Entry is free.
Enjoy the designated kids' play area with bouncy castles, face painting, icecream eating competitions and much more.
The day runs from 10 am to 3 pm and has been part of the town’s calendar since 1947.
Plan time to explore the stalls between events, grab something to eat and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.
Competition
Shearing
The Gymkhana Shears remains a centrepiece of the day. Skilled shearers line up on a purpose built board set up on Main Road, with steady action and plenty of close viewing. Families gather along the street to watch the pace and precision, then wander back to the stalls and food.
For competitor enquiries, contact Ants Frew on 027 614 8089.
fling
Highland Dancing
Enjoy Highland dancing with lively music, colourful outfits and sharp footwork, sponsored by Gannaways New Zealand – The Bagpipe Centre.
It is easy to see from the street and always draws a crowd as people move between stalls, food and displays.
Bring the kids over for a look and stay as long as you like.
Herding
Dog Trials
See experienced handlers and clever dogs at work in the dog trials.
The trials are held on Driscoll Rd rather than on the main street, so allow a little time to get there and back during the day.
Check the Map page for the exact location and access.
Family
Free Entertainment
Children’s entertainment is free all day. Look for the marked areas on or near Main Road and drop in for rides and activities designed for families.
Free children’s entertainment include bouncy castles, competitions, slides, face painting, and more. Find these in the designated kids’ play area.
Performers pop up across the day, so keep an eye out as you explore.
Don’t forget about the $1000 Give away, sponsored by Stu Heap Building!
